Elementary
The overall aim of Catholic education is to develop the whole child; spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically. The educational philosophy at St. Peter School is rooted in our mission to inspire each child to pursue spiritual growth and academic excellence. We strive to provide a wide variety of activities and experiences that will challenge and encourage children to develop at their own pace. The primary school experience at St. Peter School will prepare your child to succeed in the next phase of their academic program.
Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition, St. Peter School supports the growth of our elementary students in both knowledge and faith. In the elementary years, the curricular program shifts focus from the development of the essential skills learned in primary school to an emphasis on the application of skills. Students at this level begin to transition from learning to read to reading to learn. With a more expanded vocabulary, students use their imaginations to write creatively. Students learn the conventions of the English language through a comprehensive grammar program and perfect their cursive handwriting. The elementary curriculum encourages students to acquire a deeper understanding of global and local communities as well as explore the arts and sciences.
